About National ARML

ARML stands for the American Regions Mathematics League. Its annual competition brings together the nation's finest students. Each ARML Team is made up of 15 members. They meet, compete against, and socialize with one another, forming friendships and sharpening their mathematical skills. The competition is usually held on the first Saturday after Memorial Day each year, and teams compete simultaneously at several locations in the United States. About Rhode Island ARML

While some large states have several local ARML organizations and/or ARML teams, Rhode Island ARML is the only organization in the State of Rhode Island that sends teams to national ARML competition. The RI ARML team is designated to participate in all National ARML competition at Penn State every year.

Rhode Island ARML is supported by the Rhode Island Mathematics Teachers Association (RIMTA) and Rhode Island Math League (RIML). According to the RIMTA/RIML by-laws, the coach for Rhode Island ARML is approved by the RIMTA/RIML President.

Before 2012, Rhode Island did not have a State Math Team for many years. Dr. Yu re-built the team for the State of Rhode Island in 2012, and has been appointed by RIMTA and RIML as the head coach for the RI ARML team ever since. RI ARML Team began as a Division B team. In 2014, RI ARML Team advanced to Division A.
